As part of their study of the Medieval period in History, Year 7 have visited Tamworth Castle. Built in 1070, during the reign of William I, the castle’s history spans the whole of the period. Whilst there, the pupils were able to take part in a variety of activities including handling weapons; analysing artefacts; dressing in the clothes of the period and enjoying a tour of the castle. They seem to have enjoyed it and learnt a great deal from the experience. The staff at the castle commented that the pupils were, “A polite group, well-behaved and friendly” and, “a pleasure to work with”. They also said that they had, “excellent knowledge of the Medieval period.”
