Year 6 Junior House Kitchen Competition 2017
Year 6 have worked hard this half- term competing for the title of ‘Junior House Kitchen Champions 2017’. The theme for this year’s event was an ‘Afternoon tea for two’. In teams of four, students had to create a portfolio to showcase their ideas before a team. On Thursday, 13th July the teams competed to make and serve afternoon tea to our guests/ judges, Mrs Wilbraham Jones, Mr Johnston, Sue Brown from our local Tesco Community Team and two of our school catering team Jayne and Paula had the pleasure of sampling the wonderful selection of treats that our teams had created. All teams worked extremely hard and demonstrated team work as well as exceptional manners. Team Chartley were crowned winners of this year’s competition with their dishes of ham salad, cream cheese with cucumber finger sandwiches, open egg and cress sandwiches accompanied by wonderful scones filled with jam and cream.
Year 8 Senior House Kitchen Competition 2017
Year 8 have been busy this half- term in Food Technology competing for the title of ‘Senior House Kitchen Champions 2017’. The theme for this year’s competition was ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ where house teams of four had to create a two course meal from a set list of ingredients. The year 8s competition took place on Friday, 30th June with Mrs Wilbraham Jones and Mr Johnston being joined by guest judges Head Chef from Burton Albion Mr Piper and Sue Brown from Tesco Uttoxeter’s Community Team, all tasting, judging and giving feedback to our competitors. Team Chartley narrowly won this year’s competition with their spaghetti Bolognese with crusty garlic bread and warm apple pie with lemon and lime cream.
