National Poetry Day – 28th September
Recently, we’ve had an exciting day of poetry based activities in the English department. This year’s theme for National Poetry Day was Freedom and all classes created their own poems relating to texts that are currently being studied. Year 5 students, currently studying ‘Peter Pan’, had lots of fun reading about the freedom of fairies and Neverland whilst, those Year 8 students studying to ‘Noughts and Crosses’ by Malory Blackman, wrote their own poems relating to apartheid. It was a wonderful creative day; learning through a different medium!
