Christmas Wow day
The last day of term has been our Christmas Wow Day. Pupils have enjoyed Christmas activities this morning followed by the year 8 Nativity play and carol singing in the Hall. Merry Christmas!

Christmas Dinner
Today we have welcomed family and community members into school to join us for Christmas Dinner and what a great dinner it was! We all enjoyed a full roast turkey dinner whilst listening to music performed by the school choir and a few particularly gifted school musicians. Thank you to everyone who came, it was lovely to share the season with you.

Remembrance Day
Wanting to do something special to commemorate Remembrance Day, which this year marks 100 years since the end of World War One, we looked to our local churches for help. Having gathered the names from all of the local war memorials, we set about creating our very special poppy display. All of the poppies were made by pupils in school, who then wrote the name of one of the fallen service men and women from the Uttoxeter area on it. Our display contains over 400 individualised poppies. Two of our pupils have a family members’ name on a poppy, so their families were invited into school to see them. Why not pop to school to see our Poppy Cascade for yourself?

Putting the Wow into Worship
Well that residential really was Wow! Our student Worship Team were invited by Bishop Geoff to join with pupils from two other middle schools to explore worship at Dovedale House, Eyam. We spent the first afternoon getting to know the other pupils and exploring ideas of worship. After a lovely evening meal, we walked to Eyam Church where we experienced a candlelit Taize service, I think that we all found this to be a particularly spiritual moment. We then returned to Dovedale House to tell stories and toast marshmallows around the firepit. The next morning we split into groups and prepared different elements of a worship together. We enjoyed some art and craft on the lawn before gathering in the chapel to draw together all of the elements of our worship. Our worship team are now ready to deliver their worship to the whole school.
